Candy Colours Trend SS12

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

SS12 is all about candy colours and soft pastels! Lemon yellows, pretty pinks and cool hues of blues and mint will be filling the shops!

Already there are some gorgeous pieces that would be a great addition to your wardrobe!

Pastel colours are a brilliant way of adding colour without being too bold. Colour blocking will still be on trend but will be less vibrant and replaced with a soft palette.

Many designers demonstrated this trend on the catwalk such as Erdem, J.Crew and Louis Vuitton!

I love the soft fabrics and the tones of colours being used. Here is a selection of  a few  pieces spotted on the high street,  that will ease you into spring!

This cotton sweater from Zara £19.99 is a perfect piece. This is such a versitile top and can be worn with jeans and skirts a great item to mix and match with your existing wardrobe.

Next this pretty pink peplum dress from Moschino £240, this dress is stunning and fitted at the waist, while  accentuating curves. A gorgeous dress for spring and also good for any occasions over summer. This dress can be worn in many ways and can be teamed with heels, flats and wedges! Overall a brilliant investment item!

For a hint of pastel colours this blouse from Topshop £18.00, is a easy way to have a hint of colour and be stylish at the same time. This blouse is so effortless and can also be dressed up with a skirt or worn casually with a pair of jeans, this is great for the weekends, for a relaxed casual look!

Winter Party Dresses

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

It’s coming up to December and for most that means we’re approaching Christmas party season! Whether it be a work do, family do or the romantic get away, a lot of us fear looking for ‘the dress’ that will get us through the party season.

This can be due to several reasons,

  • We may be afraid to wear any other colour than black but don’t want to look like we’re going to a funeral.
  • It can be hard to pick a dress suitable for the occassion i.e. too short for a work function?
  • Or it can be simply that we just don’t feel comfortable in a dress!

However, here are a few great options currently available that will hopefully inspire you to go out and investigate what is out there and not be afraid to try something new.

For those of you who will not consider moving away from black, try and select a dress that has an elemet of detail to make it stand out. For example, this beautiful Reiss dress which has some lovely appliqué on it. Ensuring that a black dress isn’t a boring one. It also has long sleeves for those of you who are keen to keep your arms covered up. Click here to buy online.

Feeling a little braver, check out this cute sequin dress from Miss Selfridge. The colour is quite toned down, but the pattern and the sequins really makes this dress something special. Pair with high denier tights and platform heels, this would be a great 60s retro look. It has a low back as well to give it ‘sexy’ touch. Click here to buy online.

Fancy some sparkle but not sure if you can handle pattern and sequins like the one above? Have a look at this pretty, feminine dress from Oasis. The soft, cowneck neckline gives it a feminine feel, also if you have a smaller bust, this is the type of neckline that will enhance what you have! At under £70 it also wont break the bank. Buy online here.

Hopefully this has given you some inspiration to go out and try something that will bring a bit of Christmas magic to your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd and it can be a chance for work colleagues to see you in a whole new light!
