Statement Necklaces

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

A statement necklace is definitely a must have piece for any season.  Investing in a statement necklace can transform your outfit by adding colour and updating a look.

A long necklace can enhance a smock dress by bringing focus onto the waist area, which is perfect for hourglass figures, whilst a shorter necklace flatters the neckline and chest area.

These are simple but effective ways of highlighting your best assets.

I love long necklaces and although this one from Bijoux Heart may be on the higher end of prices at £275. It is a stunning piece to have for all outfits and all occasions.

Perfect for this season and stylish. Adding something as simple as a long necklace to your wardrobe can really revamp many outfits and make them feel new again!

If you don’t want to break the bank and want to invest in a necklace at a fraction of the price, this one from French Connection £30, will work wonders for shift dresses and loose T-Shirts.

Short necklaces are perfect for an evening and for work, as well as being a great accessory to many outfits.

I personally think shorter necklaces look elegant and classic teamed with your favourite LBD.

This one by Day Birger Et Mikkelsen £109, is gorgeous. I especially love the ribbon detailing!

Bib necklaces are a great piece to update your wardrobe with, and a good classic design will not go out of style.

I never think Mango as the first point of call when it comes to jewellery but the brand is definitely on my list now,  they have some fantastic designs in this season.

And finally , this Bib necklace £39.90 from Mango adds a real statement to any outfit!

Gorgeous Gloves

Friday, December 17th, 2010

I love gloves, I really do. Every year I always think “will this be the year that I finally give in and just buy a pair?” You see, whilst I love gloves I get really frustrated with them from time because I just can’t feel anything and I don’t like fingerless gloves because I like them to be warm! It’s a lose-lose situation for me really, but that doesn’t mean it has to be for you. Here are three gloves I wish I could wear…

These are just plain adorable, but really, the whole of Accessorize is full of wonderful winter woolies right now. I particularly love the sweet little bows, and how warm these gloves look! Give them a go for £12.

These are great, classic leather gloves from Jaeger. The quilting is reminiscent of Chanel but without the hefty price tag at £70.

Gosh, aren’t these Burberry gloves just so effortlessly cool? I might become a glove person just so I can have them on my hands, buy these beauts for £275 from net-a-porter.

Bagging the Party Look

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

It’s December and time for all those Christmas and New Year parties! We’ll get right onto dresses soon enough for those who like to wait until the last minute to plan what they’re wearing (me included sometimes!) but right now let’s start with the accessories!

The fun bag

A fun bag should be exactly what the name suggests: fun. Something that stands out from your outfit – if you’re one to want your accessories to stand out – and something that is ridiculously impractical, but you still want it anyway (how many people can say they know this feeling?!) My pick of a fun bag is this shell shaped hard clutch from Accessorize, £32. I just love the solid gold aspect of it – it seems really over the top but I feel that it be a good addition to your wardrobe if you’re planning to work the 70s look next season as it would transition over quite well.

The sexy bag

A bag that hints at a naughtier side! I love how there are two sides to this bag with the ostrich feathers reminding me of boudoirs and the other leather side being more restrained and prim and proper. One bag, two different looks. Buy it for £116 (reduced at the mo’!) from Biba at House of Fraser.

The classic bag

Everyone needs a classic clutch; a go to bag in emergencies, last minute plans and a bag to go with everything you could ever want to wear. Presenting the Marc by Marc Jacobs Vintage Look Pleated Clutch. Simple, classic and looking ever-so luxuriously soft, make it yours forever for £220 from Matches.
