Statement Earrings

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

With so many Christmas parties coming up sometimes you just don’t have the time to think of enough outfits to wear for all of them. However, fear not, adding a pair of statement earrings can help spice up any outfit, if you have a trusty black dress but fear it is too ‘boring’ pair it with some great earrings (and maybe a great clutch) and then you’re good to go.

Statement earrings can be worn with your hair up or down, whatever you feel more comfortable with, sometimes having your hair up and wearing longer earrings helps elongate your neck, or if you prefer to wear your hair down they will still look great.

The other great thing about statement earrings is that you don’t have to blow your budget to get your hands on something fabulous! There are items available at all price levels and here are some of the best currently available.

If you want some classic, ‘chandelier’ style earrings, head to Net-a-porter who have some stunning earrings available, including these Swarovski crystal ones by Erickson Beamon. At £355 they are at the top of most peoples’ budgets but a sure way to add a great touch of glamour to your look.

Erickson Beamon £355

Not sure you need quite that much ‘bling’? These ‘bohemian’ style earrings are a great choice to wear day and night, a perfect addition to the day to night outfit for all those after-hours get soirées.

Debenhams £76

If those two are still a bit out of your budget then head to Topshop who always have a great selection of costume jewellery, with statement earrings playing a big part in their current collection. If you want something a bit more ‘quirky’ try the feather drop earrings below, or if you want something a bit more sleek, the gold swirl earrings are a great choice.

Lovely Lace

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Christmas is upon us, and what better to wear throughout the festive period than a lace dress. Lace is always stylish and with so many options to choose from at the minute you can’t go wrong when finding a good style that suits you.

Lace is chic and sophisticated without being too over the top.

First off is exactly that. A classic take on a lace dress. This dress by Malene Birger £279, is simple yet chic, completely timeless and a great shape. On trend with the black leather trim details and glamorous. This is an all round perfect dress and can be worn teamed with heels or flats on Christmas day!

Next is this figure hugging lace dress by Reiss £110. This is a great dress if you do not want to wear all lace. The lace sleeves flatter the arms. Looks great worn with opaque tights!  This is also a great staple black dress for your wardrobe.

This lace dress from Topshop £48, is perfect if you want to try lace in another colour.  This dress is a very flattering shape that clinches the waist. This is so versatile and can be dressed up with heels and a clutch bag or dressed down with ankle boots and flat pumps. A brilliant day to night piece!

Last but not least I have to mention this stunning dress from Karen Millen £135, in the sale from £199. This dress is gorgeous with sleeves that flatter and a great classic shift dress shape. I love the lace embroidery. This dress is a fantastic addition to your wardrobe for seasons to come and will never date.

We would all love to hear your views on our pick of lace dresses this month and any other style tips your after, do not hesitate to post onto Facebook and Twitter!

Shoe Boots

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Shoe boots are the perfect piece of footwear for this time of year. With the temperature dropping you don’t want to be going out in the evenings with your feet exposed. They are a great item to wear with your day to night outfit at work, ideal for all the Christmas office parties coming up and they are also one of the more flattering / sexy pieces of footwear you can own!

Like with any shoe, the size of the heel is vital. Always make sure you buy the heel this right for you and for when you want to wear it. Some sky scraper heels can be mega sexy but not if you can’t walk in them! Kitten heels can be very practical but be sure to avoid the frumpy look. Always good to think as well if you want a shoe boot that will look good with both jeans and skirts/dresses as some are more suited to trousers, so try remember this when you’re trying them on, envisage them in another outfit as well!

Here are some of my favourite shoe boots available at the moment…

For those of you who don’t want to risk wearing something too high try these, from Ash (available on my-wardrobe)

If you can handle a bit more height to your heel try these from LK Bennett:
