I have always been interested in fashion and style, but that which is wearable and relevant to the real world. I knew that I wanted to work with clothes in some way, and upon leaving school studied fashion at college. After graduating I worked as a fashion model living in London, Milan and Paris and traveling the world. I had the privilege of working with, and learning from, a wide variety of talented photographers, stylists, make-up artists, hairdressers and designers.
However, my interest in fashion remained firmly in reality. Often friends and strangers would ask “where did you get that!”, “how much?!” and “how come I never find things like that?!'. I was frequently being asked by friends and family to go shopping with them when they wanted advice on what to wear or buy, and I really enjoyed doing it and being able to make such a difference to them.
I love making people feel good about themselves and believe that working with your natural assets, and making the most of what you have, is the simplest yet most powerful adjustment a person can make towards changing the way they fundamentally think and feel about themselves.
I decided to make a business out of my skills and experience and sought out some training to underpin my practical knowledge and expertise. This led me to the U.S. to study with Carla Mathis, a renowned colour and style expert. Consequently I am a certified stylist and colour consultant with Body Beautiful, and a certified member of the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI), having passed the first level certification exam. I attend the annual conference in America annually to continue my training and enhance my knowledge.
I have featured in the Federation of Image Consultants (FIC) magazine, Image Now and written an article for their members on being an effective personal shopper. I have also had coverage in EVE, NW magazine and The Sunday Times. In addition I am a Fashion Expert for NIVEA, having created a series of podcasts for their ‘Beauty is…’ series' and a Q & A on style and colour for their website.
My passions and expertise are brought together with Babet Style Consultancy and I have brought together a skilled, down to earth team of experts to work with me to help my clients look and feel fantastic – teaching and guiding them to choose clothes that suit them, enhance their look with make up, and flatter themselves with a wonderful hairstyle.
